Cutting Locks and Building Legacy at Cardamone's Salon

By Olivia Miller

It can be argued that Pittsburgh has cultivated some of the most historic businesses and iconic brands in the country. But few have cracked the code to longevity quite like Cardamone’s Salon.

Cardamone’s Salon has been a Pittsburgh staple for the last 44 years. Owner Joe Cardamone’s interest in shaping hair and “making people look good and feel better” initially inspired him to attend beauty school before opening the salon in 1978. It started as a small, 3 chair salon but has expanded into a two-story salon not only offering premier hair cuts for all types of hair, but also unique services such as manicures, waxing, and facials.

Cardamone credits the salon’s strong relationships with their clients with the success of the business. The salon’s long-standing location at 300 Forbes Avenue is close to office buildings, universities, and hotels, which has allowed Cardamone's to build a diverse and loyal client base of tourists and CEOs alike. Cardamone proudly says that it is “the best location in Pittsburgh.”

As loyal as Cardamone’s customers are to the salon, Cardamone’s is just as devoted to creating a welcoming and friendly environment for them. Customers can expect to feel right at home while they get their hair cut or colored by skilled stylists who know their first names.

Along with their excellent customer service, Cardamone’s longevity is owed to the emphasis the salon puts on education. Unique to Cardamone’s, training programs for new stylists are provided as well as continued education programs to “keep their skills sharp.”
